Sid Garza-Hillman is the author of Approaching the Natural: A Health Manifesto and Raising Healthy Parents: Small Steps, Less Stress, and a Thriving Family. He holds a BA in Philosophy from UCLA, is a certified nutritionist, and teaches his unique approach to healthy and happy living at SmallSteppers.com. He hosts the “What Sid Thinks” podcast, is the Wellness Programs Director at the Stanford Inn Eco-Resort, and Race Director of the Mendocino Coast 50K trail ultramarathon (one of two U.S. all-vegan ultramarathons!).
Maria Jose Hummel
"Disease Reversal with a Plant-Based Diet + Demo"
Maria Jose Hummel is a nutritionist and health educator with experience in the field of prevention, nutrition, and public health. She has a master's degree in Human Nutrition and a master's degree in Public Health. She worked for many years as a nutritionist at Salud Para La Gente, a community clinic in Watsonville, CA where she helped people with diabetes, overweight, obesity and many other chronic diseases related to diet. Maria Jose has also worked for WIC in Santa Cruz County and the Breastfeeding Coalition of California.
She has appeared on tv and radio shows as an expert guest, co-host of a Spanish cooking show, as well as a presenter in health education programs. Maria Jose has written plant-based cookbooks in English and Spanish, Spanish articles and books, and has conducted health and nutrition seminars, including depression recovery and diabetes reversal, as well as cooking classes in California, across the U.S., and internationally. She is now pursuing a doctorate in naturopathic medicine with an emphasis in plant-based nutrition.

Jackie Busse, MD
Jackie Busse, MD, is a board certified pediatrician with a full time practice in Santa Cruz and a national expert in plant-based nutrition for kids and families. Dr. Busse grew up in Wisconsin and got her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She went on to do a pediatric residency and chief residency at Rush University in Chicago. Shortly after moving to Santa Cruz in 2011, she was introduced to The China Study and it changed her life and practice - she has been living and teaching plant-based nutrition ever since.
She is the lead author and editor of the newly-released Pediatric Quick Start Guide from the Plantrician Project and is the pediatric lecturer for the Plant Based Nutrition certification program through eCornell. She currently teaches a regularly occurring whole-food, plant-based nutrition appointment series and is active in the community, speaking to local interest groups and schools. Dr. Busse is also a busy mom of two lifelong plant-eaters (2 and 4 years old) and loves sharing tips and meal ideas on plant-based eating. Alan Goldhamer, DC
"Fasting: A Modern Approach to an Ancient Practice"
Alan Goldhamer, DC, is the founder of TrueNorth Health Center, a state-of-the-art facility that provides medical and chiropractic services, psychotherapy and counseling, massage and body work. Alan is also director of the Center’s groundbreaking residential health education program. He has supervised the fasts of thousands of patients. Under his guidance, the Center has become one of the premier training facilities for doctors wishing to gain certification in the supervision of the therapeutic use of fasting.
Alan is on the faculty at Bastyr University where he teaches the course on clinical fasting and was the principal investigator in two landmark studies. He is a graduate of Western State Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon. After completing his chiropractic education, he traveled to Australia where he became licensed as an osteopathic physician. He is also the author of The Health Promoting Cookbook and co-author with Dr. Doug Lisle of The Pleasure Trap.
Matt Ruscigno, MPH, RD

Matt Ruscigno is a vegan of 20 years and a leading expert in nutrition. He has a Nutritional Science degree from Pennsylvania State University, a Public Health Nutrition masters degree from Loma Linda University, and certification as a Registered Dietitian.
Matt is a co-author of the No Meat Athlete book with Matt Frazier and Appetite for Reduction with Isa Moskowitz. Matt is a co-author of the upcoming Plant-based Sports Nutrition book with Enette Larson-Meyer, PhD, RD. In his spare time, he is an accomplished athlete who races marathons, iron-man triathlons, 200+ mile cycling events and 24-hour races.
Sailesh Rao, PhD
"How Veganism Solves Climate Change"
Sailesh Rao is the Founder and Executive Director of Climate Healers, a non-profit dedicated towards healing the earth’s climate. A systems specialist with a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, Sailesh worked on the internet communications infrastructure for 20 after graduation. In 2006, he switched careers and became deeply immersed in the environmental crises affecting humanity and has been studying how to reverse them and achieve global sustainability from a systems perspective.
Sailesh is the author of the 2011 book, Carbon Dharma: The Occupation of Butterflies and the 2016 book, Carbon Yoga: The Vegan Metamorphosis. He is an Executive Producer of the trilogy of documentaries THEY Don't Want You To See, The Human Experiment (2013), Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret (2014) and What The Health (2017), which explore the systemic causes of human and environmental ill health. He is also an Executive Producer of the forthcoming documentary, A Prayer for Compassion.
"Hungry for Peace? Food Not Bombs"
Artist, vegan activist, and author Keith McHenry co-founded the global movement Food Not Bombs in Boston with seven friends in 1980. Keith became a vegetarian at 16 after he slaughtered seven roosters at his family's small farm on Cape Cod.
Keith has recovered, cooked, and shared vegan food with the hungry as a Food Not Bombs volunteer for over 38 years. Keith was arrested "for making a political statement" by sharing vegan meals in San Francisco, spent a total two years in jail and faced 25 years to life in prison. He has written three books including Hungry for Peace - How you can help end poverty and war with Food Not Bombs and the new The Anarchist Cookbook. Keith lives in Santa Cruz, California.
