Heather Houston and Yala Lati Women's Choir
Heather Houston, a third generation Santa Cruzan, has devoted her life to revealing the essence of Love and uplifting women's lives through the power of singing. She is a spirited song circle leader, dynamic choir director, renowned vocal coach, and acclaimed recording artist known for her soulful voice and passion for community building. Founded in 2003, her Women's Spirit Song circles and retreats (Now Sisters in Harmony) have inspired thousands of women of all ages and ability levels to open their hearts and set their voices free. Her women's global music choir Yala Lati, which organically emerged from these circles, put on two heart-opening concerts a year, as well as offer their voices at community events and Spiritual Centers throughout the bay area. Numerous requests for her mentorship have moved Heather to offer a Women’s Song Leader Training happening June 28-30, 2019. She is currently a part of the Specialty Class Faculty at 1440 Multiversity where she takes participants on a transformational sound healing journey with their voices. You can find Heather's soulful a cappella quartet album SIRENZ and her first solo ZMR top ten album Prayers for the Water on all the music sites.
Yaya's Kitchen, Soul-Folk with a Hip Hop Twist, is a gathering of souls drawn together by the magic of the musical muse. We are inspired to engage the textures of life and create songs that are beautifully human, cosmically playful, and full of love.
Sarah Fishleder has been singing for as long as she can remember. For many years she performed in musical theater and only in the last few years began writing her own music. She is very excited to share some original tunes and sharing the stage with her wonderful friend and fabulous guitar player, Jimmy Buzuzi.
Lauren Wahl is Santa Cruz based singer-songwriter and lead singer of her band Simply Put. A musician in the local circuit for many years, she has recently began to make a name for herself as a talented and passionate songwriter. Her acoustic finger-picking guitar accompanies the surprisingly rich timbre of her voice. Favoring minor key tonality and introspective lyrics, her songs range from soul-full ballads to the occasional comedic parody. A natural entertainer and trained vocalist, Lauren's music is a powerhouse driving a musical narrative. You can find her with her band at Moe’s Alley 4/7/19 with local favorites Crooked Branches and Wild Iris.
Leo Lobo & Friends
Leo Lobo is a native Brazilian who was exposed, since an early age, to all kinds of influences absorbed while growing up in Brazil, Africa and the US. From Bossa Nova, Samba, Brazilian Popular Music (MPB), and Forró among many others Brazilian music rhythms, Lobo has created a unique style of music. He performs original songs as well as his own interpretation of famous songs from many different artists. Leo moved to the US in 1997 and relocated to San Francisco Bay Area in 2003. Since then Lobo has played with a number of talented local artists, both as a percussionist, and lead vocalist/guitarist. Music is his way of communicating with people. His songs range from ballads to upbeat dance pieces, drawn from everyday experiences, weaving in social commentary, and colored by a Brazilian outlook that makes his work very interesting!
